November 2018 Desktop Calendar

By | October 6, 2017

Today, I’m sharing my November 2018 desktop calendar.  I think this is my favorite one to date!!!  It features one of my favorite stamp sets, Painted Harvest, and one of my favorite techniques — stamping and spritzing.  This messy and sort of “uncontrolled” watercoloring technique really appeals to me.

I think you’ll be amazed at how easy this page was to create.  I simply cut the largest square Stitched Shape Framelit die out of watercolor paper.  Then, I spritzed both the back and front with clear water.  (Spritzing the back helps the paper stay flat!  I just recently learned this and it works!!!)

While the paper was wet, I stamped the solid flower stamp numerous times in Powder Pink so it covered a good portion of the upper left side and the ink bled quite a bit.  Next, I stamped the detailed flower in Berry Burst twice and spritzed the paper again to help the ink continue to bleed.  (I did not line up the stamps at all.  They are very random.)  Then, I stamped the detailed flower with Fresh Fig ink, the center with Soft Suede (stamp 2 to 3 times on top of each other for a nice, dark center), and the solid fern in Sahara Sand.  As the paper dried a little, I stamped a few dots with Berry Burst ink.  I encourage you to experiment and see how the ink reacts with the different amounts of water as the paper dries.  You can speed up the drying with a heat tool.  The wetter the paper, the more the ink will fade and bleed.

When the paper was fairly dry, I stamped the detailed leaves with Soft Suede (stamped off once) and more dots with Fresh Fig ink.

I absolutely love how the different panels turned out.  They are all unique.  Because I didn’t want to cover them (they were just too pretty), I stamped the month using the retired Project Life Date It stamp set in Fresh Fig ink on Vellum Paper.  Be sure to let it dry thoroughly before trimming!  It takes the ink a little longer to dry on Vellum Paper.
