The new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog is coming out on June 1, 2017, and with it comes new colors! Each year, Stampin’ Up! introduces five “In-Colors” to its permanent palette to keep the colors fresh and on trend. The In-Colors are only available for two years, and they are specifically created to coordinate with each other, as well as the previous year’s In-Colors.
Well, I have to say that I’m a big fan of this year’s In-Colors!!! I haven’t been this excited about the In-Colors for a really long time. Usually, it takes me a while to work with them and discover combinations I like, but this year is entirely different. I just fell in love instantly! They are bright, bold and downright gorgeous, and I couldn’t wait to play with them.
To start out, I love designing a monotone card and then using the design to create a card in each of the new In-Colors.
My card design features the Falling Flowers stamp set and coordinating May Flowers Thinlits Dies. This card is similar to one I created for my Stamp Club this month, but it uses updated colors and papers from the new Annual Catalog. (Demonstrators are able to pre-order from the catalog, in order to start planning projects and events for June.)
The first card features the new “Fresh Fig” In-Color. It’s a gorgeous warm purple.
I used Shimmery White Paper for the background and the embossed flower and leaf so I could watercolor them. I love the way the background turned out different on each card!
You’ll notice matching Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper and 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon on each card. They are available in ALL the new In-Colors in the new Annual Catalog. The paper comes in a 12″ x 12″ pack and includes four of the most popular designs from this year’s Fresh Florals DSP. It’s super pretty!
This next card features the new “Berry Burst” In-Color. It makes me happy justlooking at it!
For the watercoloring, I painted in small sections. Shimmery White paper works great for watercoloring, but it dries a little faster than watercolor paper. So if you want to blend colors, you need to do it quickly. I painted with a light wash first, and then went back and added darker color so it would bleed.
Next is the new “Powder Pink” In-Color. It brings back memories of my daughter in her pink leotard in ballet lessons:)
Next is the new “Tranquil Tide” In-Color. This is bound to be one of my favorites, because I’m a girl who loves blue and turquoise, and this is just about right in-between.
Lastly is the new “Lemon Lime Twist” In-Color. I adore the vibrancy of this color and how pretty in contrasts with the other In-Colors. It’s a great color for Summer too!!!
You really can’t go wrong combining any of last year’s 2016-2018 In-Colors with these five new ones. But, what about all the rest of the permanent colors in Stampin’ Up!’s palette? Well, Stampin’ Up! took care of that for you, and created a really handy In-Color Combinations chart. Click on the picture to download a PDF and print it out.
