New 2016 Desktop Calendars!

By | February 7, 2015

I’m starting up my Online My Digital Studio class again!  As in past years, I will teach the class while creating pages for a desktop calendar for the next year (2016.)  For my first installment, I’ve created both January and February 2016 calendar pages.  Since I have been teaching this class for two years now, I’m going to do things a little differently this year.  I’ve made so many technique videos (plus there’s such a great library of tutorial videos at mydigitalstudio.net) that I’ve decided it’s not worthwhile to create videos showing how I completed each step.  Therefore, my videos this year will only focus on unique or tricky parts of each page.  However, I will make a point of referencing helpful videos from past years or from mydigitalstudio.net.

I will continue to provide written instructions for each page, which you can easily access on my blog under the MDS Online Class tab along the top toolbar.  The instructions will include a picture of each page, the downloads needed to complete the page, page details including specific items used, colors and settings, as well as video links.

For my January page, I decided to create a chalkboard design focusing on the New Year.  I searched for lots of cute chalk style stamps.  The technique videos for this month include some fun cropping tips that will help you crop odd shaped items (when a simple square won’t work) and use the Crop Tool to elongate items, such as the frame above, to fit your specific project.  Additionally, I have another new video that goes over tips for moving very small objects.

Here is a link to the instructions for January and February, including the video tutorials.

For the February page, I mostly used the Love Story Project Life download.  It was just too perfect for the month of love.

In the video for February (included in the instructions above), I go over some tips on using the Coloring Tool to color watercolor stamps and small, tight spaces.

I encourage you to give My Digital Studio a try and join the class.  I provide all the instructions and videos for free.  I only ask that you give me recognition for learning new techniques by purchasing your downloads at my online store, using me as your demonstrator.  Thank you so much and enjoy!

Hi Tami – I love your beautiful calendar pages! We have an online Christian women’s magazine, Ruby for Women, and we include a calendar page in each of our monthly issues. I would like to include your calendar page for February in our upcoming issue, and will (of course!) include a promo for your blog and a link back. Please let me know if that would be OK and if there is anything else we can do to promote your work. Thanks so much, Nina Newton, Sr. Editor, Ruby for Women
