Hello Friends. I’m having so much fun trying out all the great Sale-A-Bration products this year! There are so many to choose from. I hardly know where to start!
If you’re late to the party, and haven’t heard of Sale-A-Bration, here’s the scoop. From January 5 to March 31, 2016, Stampin’ Up! is having its greatest sale of the year. Every time you order $50 in products, whether it’s online, at a club, or a workshop, you qualify to select a FREE item from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.
Today, I used the Flowering Fields stamp set and coordinating Wildflower Fields Designer Paper. Both are Sale-A-Bration items. I love the delicate flowers in the stamp set and the beautiful color combination of the designer paper.
My card has a fairly simple layout. That way, I could concentrate my efforts on the coloring. I started by stamping the four flowers with Basic Black Archival ink on Whisper White cardstock. Then, I used three different colors to sponge the background, including Lost Lagoon, Old Olive and Soft Sky.
To color the flowers, I used a Blender Pen. This is the perfect tool to reach those itty, bitty flowers and leaves, because it’s got a nice, fine point. I simply squeezed my ink pads to pool ink in the lids, then I dipped the tip of the Blender Pen in the ink to pick up color. You need to be a little careful not to pick up too much color. I usually test my pen on a scratch piece of paper first. As you color with the Blender Pen, the ink slowly fades until it’s completely gone. Then, you just go back and pick up some more. As a result, it provides a nice fading effect.
The other great thing about Blender Pens is that they work well on Whisper White card stock. However, you do need to be careful not to go over the same spot too much.
To emphasize the butterfly, I stamped in again on a scrap piece of cardstock and cut it out. After adhering it with a dimensional, I used the new Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to add clear glitter on top. I love the subtle sparkle!
On the side of my card, I used a Banner Punch to punch three small banners out of various different Flowering Fields Designer Series Paper. I thought this was a good way to show them off.
Finally, I used another Sale-A-Bration stamp set, Perfect Pairings, to create my tag. I stamped the Thank You with Calypso Coral ink and punched it out with a Word Window Punch, aligning the right side of the punch where I wanted it. Then, I placed the label back into the punch to shorten it and punch the left side.
