MDS Back Up:
Before I get to my MDS Monday page for this week, I wanted to let you know that I added MDS Backup Instructions to the MDS Videos / How To Tab on the MDS Monday blog to explain how to back up your My Digital Studio software, updates, downloads, and projects. This is extremely important information, because after May 31, you will no longer have the ability to access your downloads (including the downloadable software) and updates on Stampin’ Up! websites. So, I urge you to back up now to ensure that you can restore everything in case of a computer crash or if you want to add My Digital Studio to a new computer. I will also be making videos to cover this information in the next week.
MDS Monday Challenge:
For MDS Monday this week, Cindy has a great sketch that challenged us to use the Freeform Tool to write our journaling on a square path around the photo. This is a creative and unique method to add journaling to a scrapbook page, and it’s really not that difficult. (I’ve added a video tutorial below.)
My page this week centers around this crazy picture that my daughter and her friends took after dance practice one day. They were fooling around, and decided to make a “Human Tetris.” (Tetris is an old video game.) I thought it would make a great scrapbook page.
I searched the internet for photos of the video game and cropped out sections to create my own Tetris paper and embellishments. I also searched for Tetris fonts and found one called “New Tetris.” I liked that one because it actually looks like the little blocks. However, it was a little hard the read, so I added a second title using AR Destine font. That one was in a similar style, but a little easier to read.
Otherwise, I just added a few little accents to my page including some stamps from Gorgeous Grunge and frames from Game Day.
To create the Freeform text on a path, I created this video tutorial:
