This is our last MDS Monday Challenge! As you know by now, Stampin’ Up! will no longer be supporting My Digital Studio after June 9th. While we’d love to continue on at MDS Monday, it just doesn’t make sense after this week. So, it’s time to move on to other scrapbooking options, such as Project Life and good old paper.
I’m the hostess this week, and since the Stampin’ Up! digital store will be closing on June 2, I thought it would be fun to have an open challenge to create any design you want featuring your favorite digital download. I know it’s hard to pick, because there are so many great downloads. But, try to focus on one main download, and if you’re like me, go ahead and add a few more.
I thought this challenge would be a great way to showcase some of the best downloads and explain why we love them so much. Hopefully, that will help you decide whether there are any last minute items you want to buy before it’s too late.
For my page, I used the Love Story Project Life download. I’ve used this download many, many times. It’s a huge download that includes over 200 pocket card embellishments and loads of coordinating stamps. Right now, it’s 30% off (as are all the digital downloads) for only $13.97. All the cards and stamps are in a watercolor style, which I love. That’s probably why it’s my favorite. Additionally, I love that all the pocket cards are in neutrals tones of black, white and gray. It makes this download so versatile, because it coordinates with all colors and photos.
When I created my page, I used several of the pocket cards to create the background. For the top circles and middle section, I expanded the cards to cover the entire 12″ X 12″ area. My Digital Studio will give you an error message when you do this, indicating that the card might pixelate, but just hit OK. For this watercolor style, potential pixelation won’t matter. On the bottom of my page, I copied four similar pocket cards and lined them up together so they looked seamless.
For the rest of my page, I used various stamps and embellishments that went with the theme of the page. I found a cute sketched frame in Freehand Frames, some whimsical banners in Blossoms Abound, a pretty rose in Delicate Adornments (I had to have a rose for a Beauty and the Beast page!), and watercolor leaves from For All Things. Finally, I looked up the words to the song “Be Our Guest” and added them as text, using BeckyScript font (by Becky Higgins.) Then, I used the Search Tool in My Digital Studio to find random words from various downloads to highlight, in order to add some color and variety.
I would love to hear which downloads are your favorites. Leave a comment below, and don’t forget to explain why it’s your favorite:)
