It’s MDS Monday! I’m only going to be able to say that one more time after this, and then My Digital Studio is going away. It makes me so sad, but I’m also so grateful to Stampin’ Up! for introducing me to this amazing method of scrapbooking! It has truly changed my life. Over the past five years, I’ve created almost 191 projects! I’ve never even come close to producing that many pages before. And looking back, I cherish each and every one. They make me smile, laugh, remember and even cry. My Digital Studio may be going away at Stampin’ Up!, but I’ll always have those amazing pages, and I’ll continue to use the software for my personal use.
After next Monday, I’m going to try to transition into doing Project Life pages on Mondays for my blog. I’m not making any promises, but that’s my goal. The hard thing for me right now is that my printer isn’t working very well, so I have to run to Costco to pick up prints. But, I do have the option of creating Project Life pages digitally, so I may throw some of those in from time to time.
So, on to this week’s sketch. Cindy designed it based on a page she created when she applied to the Artisan Design Team a couple years ago. I love the flags and Ferris Wheel on her original design below. However, I decided to change things up a bit to work with these fun photos I took of Shannon and her little friend Emily, when they were playing around at lunch during the Fluid Dance Convention.
I just love the special bond these two have! Emily is constantly running over to Shannon, and sitting in her lap. She is the SWEETEST little girl (and a really amazing dancer!) Both Shannon and I adore her. I was so happy that I had my camera nearby when they started playing around and posing for pictures. It was a perfect photo op.
For my page, I mostly used the My Digital Class Hi There Kit download. (Only the frames around the photos come from a different download – My Digital Class Hello Perfection.) Just as a side note, you’ll notice that both of these downloads come as classes. That means that when you buy them, not only do you get all the contents, you also download video classes that teach you tips on using the downloads! I particularly love the Hi There Kit, mainly because of this cool background paper! I seriously love ombre waves of Pistachio Pudding!!! (Remember that all digital downloads, including these classes are currently 30% off through June 2, when the Stampin’ Up! digital store closes for good.
Cindy’s sketch has the Ferris Wheel in the background, but I decided to use this fanciful grid stamp instead, and then layer a bunch of the Hi There stamps and embellishments to bring focus to my title. For my flag banner, I first drew a freeform line to create the string. Then, I used a combination of stamps (some cropped) and embellishments for the flags themselves. One of the embellishments had a balloon on it that was going the wrong way, so I covered it up with a square punch in a coordinating color.
Here’s Cindy’s sketch for this week:
