MDS Monday – Crazy Cousins

By | March 23, 2015

Happy Monday!  Before I get to the MDS Monday sketch for this week, I just wanted to say a few words about last week’s announcement from Stampin’ Up! to stop supporting the My Digital Studio software effective May 31, 2015.  It goes without saying that all the designers at MDS Monday are extremely sad about this decision.  We obviously love the program and adore using it.  We are still in the process of determining how we’ll proceed with the MDS Monday website, including future challenges and how long we’ll keep it going.  In the meantime, we are exploring options for alternative digital software, printing, and backing up MDS content, projects, and software.  We plan to share this information during upcoming weeks.  So please stay tuned, and continue to enjoy the weekly challenges for as long as we can still use MDS.

Beth has a fun sketch for this week, that works well with one, two, or even multiple photos.

I took this photo of my kids and nephews last Christmas.  It makes me laugh every time I see it.  Michael (the upside down one) is the oldest of the cousins, but that doesn’t stop him from being one of the goofiest!  He’s really into Parkour, and is frequently flipping, doing handstands, or upside down.  Of course, my daughter loves being the only girl cousin and the center of attention.  It’s fun to see how well they all get along and how much fun they have together.

This is one of those pages that came together really easily.  I mostly used one kit — Watercolored Winter.  It’s one of my favorites because of the watercolor style of the papers and embellishments, and it works great with winter photos.

For my title, I used the search tool on My Digital Studio to find a stamp brush with the word “crazy” in it.  I found one in the Fantabulous You download and cropped it out.  Then, I used the ABC-123 Sketch and Outline Alphabet stamp brushes to write out the word “COUSINS.”  The big snowflake is from the Snowday Woodcuts download.  I re-colored it white and increased the drop shadow to 50% to really make it pop.  That particular download re-colors really well.  Finally, I added some Silver Baker’s Twine.

Here’s Beth’s sketch for this week:

Now that you’ve seen my page, head on over to MDS Monday to see all the designers’ pages for this week.  It’s so fun to see everyone’s interpretation of the sketch.  These gals are so creative!  You can enter our challenge at that site for a chance to be a featured winner.

Beautiful winter page! I really like how that snowflake does ‘POP’… I will have to remember to try that tip in one of my pages.

Thank you so much Barbara for the kind comments. I will work on doing the tutorials you asked for. I’m still doing some research on what I’m going to do, but I’ll let you know.

Tami – I just wanted to comment on how much I love what you do with MDS. You are the one who has encouraged and guided me to learn so much. I have really enjoyed your calendars and your tutorials are awesome. Keep up the great work. I am so sad also about MDS going away. I have gotten where I use it so much. I was wondering if you can keep me informed on how you are going to back all your MDS up and what decision you chose on how to keep using it. I am not very computer literate, so I was wondering if you could do a tutorial, step by step, on how/what you decide to do with your MDS so I can follow along and do the same with mine. Love, Love your website!!! barbhann@sbcglobal.net I am also a demonstrator, so open for any assistance and guidance. I follow you, along with many others, but also follow the MDS Monday with ya’ll.
