For MDS Monday this week, Anita is the hostess and she designed a simple sketch with a challenge to add something “Spring-like” to the page. In particular, she wanted us to add something to our page that grows, such as a plant or flower.
I didn’t have any recent pictures that met this challenge, so I went back to old pictures, and I’m talking REALLY old pictures!!! To be honest, I was focusing on looking for a picture or pictures that went with “something that grows” and I sort of forgot about the Spring element until I was all done. I know this page speaks more Summer than Spring. (In actuality, the photos were taken in October!) But, at least I did get the plant or flower part right! And, it could be Spring in Maui, right?
This is one of my all time favorite pictures of my son taken when he was only two years old during a vacation in Maui. My wonderful sister Jill took this photo. Again, the best photos I have are the ones she took! She is awesome at capturing just the perfect moment. She definitely has a photographer’s eye!!!
The sad part is that my son doesn’t even remember this trip. My husband and I took my daughter back to Maui a few years ago, when my son was away at college (yes, that’s how old the photo is!) While Samuel was distracted and having his own fun at the time, I think he’s still a little jealous of the fact that my daughter got to go when she was old enough to remember the trip! (Well, we’ll have to work on that!)
This photo is so touching and sweet. I just look at it and remember my darling little boy. Because of that, I decided to search for a poem about mothers and sons to add to the page. I found this one and thought it was perfect, especially because it mentions the sea.
To decorate my page, I mostly used papers, stamps and embellishments from the Paradise Found download. I really love the bamboo frame that comes with this download. However, it’s a see-through frame, so I added some rounded square punches behind it to fill it in. For my background, I used a Natural Composition Overlay stamp that mimics the sand. The title comes partially from the Love Story Project Life download (My Sweet) and the Endless Birthday Wishes (boy). Finally, I added the starfish from the By the Seashore download.
Here’s Anita’s sketch for this week. (I don’t feel too bad, because she created a beach page too! You can see it at MDS Monday.)
