For MDS Monday this week, Yapha is the hostess and she has a sketch with lots of squares. This is a nice, simple sketch that you can easily adapt to work with most photos. I had some great photos of Shannon from a recent dance competition that I wanted to use.
The only problem I had was when I added the top photo, my daughter was so small that you could hardly see her. I really love this photo of her. We were laughing when we first saw it, calling it her “Beyonce” picture. So, I decided to add an oval punch so I could zoom in on her and make her bigger.
Creating this page was pretty easy. There was really only one tricky part that you probably wouldn’t even realize by looking at it. All the words, except the date, are actually one embellishment. It took a little work to divide it up into three main pieces to place it on the top left, the top tab, and on the bottom right. Let me show you the embellishment, and you’ll understand why.
Isn’t this just a perfect saying for a dance page? I love it! I didn’t have a space large enough on this layout to add the whole thing. So that’s why I wanted to divide it up. Unfortunately, a lot of the embellishment overlaps and cannot be cropped with a simple square.
So, this is how I did it. First, I cropped the section below.
Then, I moved the crop to get the rest of the word “lifeforce”
Once I had those two pieces, I selected Arrange, Group to group them together to make one element.
I proceeded to do the same thing for the next section I wanted to crop. I cropped the following.
Then, I added this section. Again, I grouped them together.
Finally, I cropped out the bottom part. (Finally, a section that easily fit in a square!)
Now, I had three separate embellishments that I could place separately on my page.
