May Paper Pumpkin!

By | May 23, 2016

It’s Paper Pumpkin time!  I got my surprise red box in the mail last week, and I spent Sunday making six cards.  Over the course of the next week, I’ll share them all.

First, let me show you the contents of the box.  This month, Paper Pumpkin subscribers received the Many Manly Occasions Kit, including supplies to make eight masculine themed cards including Father’s Day and birthdays.  The kit included 8 laser cut cards, 8 envelopes, 8 corrugated cardstock layers, 2 sheets of die-cut stickers, 1 sheet of epoxy star stickers, and 100 adhesive dots.

The kit also included this great photopolymer stamp set and a Night of Navy Stampin’ Spot ink pad.

Here’s a look at the standard card that can be created with the kit.  I did add a few Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickters on top of my stamped stars, just for a little extra pizzazz.

There are lots of different combinations of words that you can create with all the photopolymer stamps in this kit, including the sentiment below.  What’s really great is that it’s easy to add all the words to the same block so you can stamp the whole message at the same time.

Tip:  Use Grid Paper to line up your stamps straight.  Simply place the acrylic block over the Grid Paper, so you can see the lines below.  Then place your stamps on the block.  Just remember to line up all the words backwards.

Now, for a stepped up version.  Since my daughter is graduating from High School this year, I need LOTS of graduation cards for her friends.  Therefore, I decided to add a few stamp sets so I could make most of my Paper Pumpkin cards into graduation cards.

For this card, I used both the Crazy About You and Thoughtful Banners stamp sets.  The Thoughtful Banners stamp set is a new item that will appear in the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog.  (You can start ordering from that catalog on June 1st!)  I used a stamp from that set to create the stripes on the graduation label, stamping in Cucumber Crush, Pool Party and Bermuda Bay.  Then, I stamped the Graduation stamp from Crazy About You in Night of Navy.

I also used a past Paper Pumpkin stamp set that included the little graduation hat to create the Night of Navy diagonal strip.

To create the background under the laser die-cut, I used a sheet of Shimmery White paper measuring slightly under 5-1/2 x 4-1/4.  I used my Aqua Painter to first brush clear water over the whole sheet, and then I placed drops of color, including Night of Navy, Cucumber Crush, and Pool Party, over the sheet until it was entirely colored.  This can get a little messy, so have a paper towel nearby to mop up the mess.

For the inside, I used more stamps from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set, as well as one more graduation hat from the past Paper Pumpkin kit.
