Life is a beautiful ride. Isn’t that true? I’m a “glass half full” type of person, so when I saw this stamp set, I immediately fell in love with it. Plus, it’s got that adorable VW bug AND a surfboard! Of course, there are all sorts of other stamps that come with this set, but those were the ones that really sold me. I was born and raised in Southern California very close to the beach, so this is just near and dear to my heart.
This stamp set is perfect for watercoloring, which also goes with the beach theme.
I stamped the VW bug and surfboard on watercolor paper using Basic Gray Archival ink. This ink is made for watercoloring, so it won’t smear.
I painted the car in sections so I could go over it quickly with a light wash and then go back and add darker color to the shaded areas. I chose bright colors for this card so it looks happy and cheerful. Then, after I was finished painting the car, I added the Love stamp.
For the wood panel, I stamped the Hardwood background stamp with Soft Suede ink on Crumb Cake cardstock. Then, I sponged it to really make it look like wood. I also sponged the edges of the Corrugated Paper.
I tried to keep the background colors neutral so the colorful watercolor really popped. Therefore, I only added a very narrow mat of Tangerine Tango.
I used a little strip of Burlap Ribbon underneath the sentiment. This ribbon is 1-1-4″ wide, so I trimmed it down so it wouldn’t be too overwhelming. Then, to add just a touch more color, I added a few Tangerine Tango Candy Dots.
This is a nice, uplifting card that would work for a guy or gal.
