For my June 2017 desktop calendar, I used the amazing Thoughtful Branches stamp set and coordinating Thoughtful Branches Thinlits Dies. These two items are available this month only, and boy do I love them! The stamp set is super versatile with lots of different trees and beautiful fonts. It was a perfect choice for my calendars.
I cut out the tree from watercolor paper and then watercolored it with Cucumber Crush and Old Olive ink. After it dried thoroughly, I stamped the leaves with Garden Green ink. It took a little practice to stamp the leaves. I found that I achieved the best results when I lined up two opposing edges and then looked through the acrylic block to line up the insides as I slowly lowered the stamp.
I really love the background of this calendar page. I layered Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate over Peekaboo Peach cardstock.
Other tricky things I did: 1) I stamped the grass twice – once with Cucumber Crush ink and then again with Old Olive, and 2) I stamped one bird with Peekaboo Peach and then sponged Tangerine Tango ink on the head, and then I stamped the other bird with Tangerine Tango ink and sponged Watermelon Wonder ink on the head for a variegated look.
I used the December 2015 Paper Pumpkin stamp set for the month. If you weren’t a Paper Pumpkin subscriber back then, you could easily substitute the Project Life Date It stamp set.
(Do you notice a little mistake in the picture above? One of the little birds fell off and I didn’t notice until later.)
