I’m on a roll this week trying to catch up with my 2017 desktop calendars!
Today, I have the July calendar featuring the Swirly Bird stamp set. There are so many things you can do with this stamp set, including creating these fun two-step stamping kites. I thought it would be fun to go real traditional with this calendar page — red, white, and blue and good old American kite flying.
For the background paper, I used a sheet from By The Seashore Designer Series Paper. I love the ombre look to this paper. Then, I stamped the kites on scrap pieces of Very Vanilla cardstock and cut them out with scissors. I have to admit that I was picky about lining up my kite stamps just right, so I ended up using a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to ensure precising alignment. Tip: When using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig you’ll get better results when you use the smallest acrylic block possible to fit your stamp.
I again used the Thoughtful Banners stamp set and coordinating Banners Duet Punch to create the month. This time, I layered Soft Sky on top of Dapper Denim cardstock to coordinate with the background paper.
I used the December 2015 Paper Pumpkin stamp set for the month. If you weren’t a Paper Pumpkin subscriber back then, you could easily substitute the Project Life Date It stamp set.
