Happy New Year!
Hope you enjoyed your holidays and are ready to start the New Year out right. January 5th is right around the corner and that’s when you can start ordering from the new Occasions catalog. It’s also the start of Sale-A-Bration. Whoo, hoo!!! It’s so exciting because there are loads of great new products.
I got right back into the swing of things by designing a thank you card. I seriously depleted my stock during the holidays, so I was in dire need. I decided to play around with the Botanical Blooms stamp set and coordinating Botanical Builder Framelits Dies. (These two items are bundled with the Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper for 15% off.) The stamp set and framelits have a multitude of combinations that you can use to make gorgeous flowers.
I particularly love the leaf edgelit die shown along the right side of my card and included in the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies. It’s such a pretty accent item!
For the background of my card, I used a layer of Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper. This paper is quickly becoming my favorite Sale-A-Bration product. It comes in a packet of 12 sheets (2 each of 6 double sided 12″ x 12″ designs) with a watercolor design on one side and a marbled design on the other. This particular piece is a Soft Sky watercolored design, but other pieces include the following colors: Basic Gray, Bermuda Bay, Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Mint Macaroon, Smoky Slate, Tempting Turquoise. While I stamped some small flowers and splatters (from Timeless Textures) on the paper with Soft Sky ink, the white spots and variations are part of the original design. It’s really, really pretty.
The best news is that you can earn this whole paper packet for FREE during Sale-A-Bration when you place an order of $50.
To create my flowers, I cut them out of Whisper White and Blushing Bride cardstock using the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies. Then, I used a Sponge Dauber to add a little Blushing Bride ink to the centers.
For the leaves, I used Pear Pizzazz and Wild Wasabi ink to stamp the Botanical Blooms images on coordinating cardstock. By using my Magnetic Platform for the Big Shot, it was easy to align and cut the leaves using the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies.
For my greeting, I used the Watercolor Thank You single stamp to emboss in white. The subtle greeting helped maintain the soft, Springy feel of this card. Plus, I like embossing greetings because it adds a nice dimension to cards. Finally, I added a Botanical Garden Jewel (which again coordinates so beautifully with all these products) and some basic pearls.
