The Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack is one of my favorite products. The papers are unique and gorgeous, and they make incredible backgrounds for cards. On top of that, you can purchase the whole stack of 48 sheets (4 each of 12 double-sided 6″ x 6″ designs) for only $10.
I used one of those gorgeous papers for the background of this card. I have to admit that I saw a similar card on Pinterest and thought it was so pretty that I just had to CASE it. The stamps from the Wetlands set work perfectly with this paper.
To create my card, I stamped the birds with Early Espresso ink and the grass with Soft Suede ink. Then, I used a Blender Pen to add brush strokes of Crumb Cake and a very light Island Indigo. To highlight the birds and parts of the grass, I used a white gel pen. I totally forgot that Stampin’ Up! no longer sells white gel pens. So, if you want to recreate this card, you would need to purchase that pen from on office or stationary store.
I realized after stamping the birds and grass that I didn’t have enough contrast between them. So I limited the white on the grass and added some sponging around the edges to darken up that whole area, thereby drawing attention to the birds.
Since I didn’t want any more brown on my card, I decided to stamp and emboss the greeting in white.
Finally, I created some rustic twine by pulling strands out of some Burlap Ribbon and tying them around my card.
