Last Wednesday was my mom’s birthday. I know she’d rather skip it and pretend it didn’t happen, but for me it’s a special day to once again tell her how much I love and admire her.
I love to surprise my mom with something different. That’s why I waited until today to post my card for her, because I wanted to make sure she got the original in the mail first.
To make this card, I used a similar technique to the one I showed on Thursday, where I sponged and then embossed all the flowers and leaves in clear. However, this time, I used a Stampin’ Write marker to draw little lines on my flowers to make them look even more realistic.
I also used a different color combination on this card. I wanted this card to look tropical to remind my mom of our trip to Maui last summer.
I cut my flowers and centers out of Shimmery White and Daffodil Delight card stock. Then, I sponged them with Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry ink. To make the centers especially dark, I used a Q-Tip to add even more ink.
I shaped all the flowers, centers and leaves with a bone folder, and then used Versamark ink to cover them completely in ink and emboss them with Clear Stampin’ Emboss powder. For the flowers and centers, I actually embossed them twice to make them look especially glassy.
The label and sentiment are from the Rose Wonder stamp set. I embossed the label in white, and then stamped the sentiment with Rich Razzleberry ink. Before the ink dried, I covered the sentiment with clear embossing powder and embossed for an elegant look that matched the flowers.
The small flowers in the background are also embossed in white.
Finally, I used a Circle Collection Framelit Die to cut a piece of Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum to put behind the flowers. You can qualify to earn this vellum stack for free during Sale-A-Bration when you place an order of $50! I ADORE this vellum stack!!! I’m ready to earn a second one, because the first is gone already!
