Have you ever wanted to make a custom gift box? I’ve got some simple instructions to share today that only require a Stampin’ Trimmer (or Scoring Board) and a 12″ x 12″ sheet of paper. After you’ve created your custom box, you can decorate to your heart’s content.
I made this little gift box out of a sheet of Kraft Cardstock. I wanted to wrap a door prize for my Stamp Club tonight. All I needed was a small box measuring 6″ x 4-1/4″ x 1/2″. So, I decided to just make my own!
I started by scoring all the measurements. You could do this with either a Stampin’ Trimmer or a Scoring Board. Since I wanted my box to be 6″ wide, I scored at 1/2″, 6-1/2″ and cut at 7″. Then, I flipped the paper on it’s side and scored at 4-1/4″, 4-3/4″, 9″, 9-1/2″, and cut at 10″
Next step is to cut off the upper sections as marked to create the flap and snip the 1/2″ middle sections as shown. Then, simply crease with a bone folder, decorate, and adhere with strong adhesive like Tear and Tape to assemble.
You could use this pattern to make any size box with 1/2″ sides up to 11″ x 5-1/4″. All you have to do is adjust the width and height sections.
Before assembling my box, I stamped it with the Flowering Fields stamp set. This is a Sale-A-Bration product that you can earn for free with a qualifying purchase of $50.
I stamped the flowers on the front, sides and back in Basic Black ink.
Next, I created a belly band with some Basic Black 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon. Again, I used Tear and Tape adhesive to really secure the ends. This tape is perfect for boxes. Once it’s down, it will not budge. But beware, you cannot adjust it at all, so be very careful when you stick it together.
I decorated the belly band with some Butterflies Thinlits Die Cuts. The larger one is cut from Very Vanilla cardstock and the smaller one is from Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack. I think that stack is my new favorite! It has loads of gorgeous designs.
Finally, I made a tag using the Greatest Greetings stamp set. This set has so many fun sayings. I’m sure whoever wins this prize will be full of smiles!!!
