Fall Colors

The Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack makes gorgeous backgrounds for cards!!!  This paper makes it easy to slap together a card in no time.  (Although, it may LOOK like you spent lots.)  The stack includes 12 double sides designs (4 each) and measures 6″ by 6″ which is perfect for card making.

I used the Thoughtful Branches stamp set and coordinating framelits for this card.  I just found out that the Thoughtful Branches bundle is no longer available to purchase; however, you could easily substitute a similar stamp set with leaves (such as 138802 Vintage Leaves and the coordinating 138283 Leaflets Framelits) for a similar look.

To create my leaves, I first inked up my stamp with the lightest color (Delightful Dijon) and then used a sponge to add additional colors (Cajun Craze and Always Artichoke) to the edges of the stamp before actually stamping on paper.  When using this technique, be sure to huff on your stamp to re-moisten the ink before stamping!

After I stamped my multi-colored leaves, I sponged some additional Cajun Craze ink on the tips and embossed them with Copper Stampin’ Emboss powder.

I did a similar thing with the die cut leaves.

For my sentiment, I stamped with Cajun Craze ink and then embossed in copper.  When using a water based ink such as Cajun Craze, the embossing powder will stick to the ink; however, you have to be quick so the ink does not dry.  I actually prefer using water based inks for embossing, because I get a very crisp stamped image.

As a final touch, I added some Regals Enamel Shapes.  I love these little things!  They are one of my new favorite embellishments.

As a final note, there’s a huge promotion going on all October at Stampin’ Up! … buy 3 designer papers and get one free!!!  Don’t miss out!
