I’ve made several “cute” Easter cards with bunnies and chocolate, so this time I wanted to create something different … something elegant and pretty. Also, just to make sure you read until the end of this post, I have a link to the retiring products list from the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog and Occasions Catalog. Both catalogs will end on May 31, 2017 and the retiring products will only be available while supplies last. Therefore, I strongly encourage you to review the list and purchase any items you may want ASAP to avoid missing out.
My card today features the Touches of Textures stamp set. This set is perfect for any occasion. It has a huge variety of stamps to color and use to create interesting backgrounds. It’s truly one of my favorites.
To start out, I cut a simple Stitched Shapes Oval die cut from watercolor paper as the centerpiece. I stamped with Basic Black Archival ink and used an Aqua Painter to watercolor the flowers.
My favorite part of this card is the background layer that I created. I was just playing around with some of the textured stamps by stamping them on damp watercolor paper, and this is what happened! As the paper slowly dried and I added more layers, the stamps came into focus more and more. I’m not sure if I could re-create it if I tried, but that was half the fun.
For the sentiment, I used a stamp from the Suite Sentiments stamp set. I bought this set because it coordinates with the Love Notes Framelits Dies that I had purchased for Valentine’s Day. It’s a great way to continue using those adorable little die cuts, including the little envelopes, for cards all year long.
I wanted to do something fun and different for the ribbon. So, I played around a bit, and this is what I came up with. I tied a knot in the middle (sort of loose) and then placed the oval die cut over the ribbon with dimensionals.

Stampin’ Up! just issued the retiring products list on Tuesday, April 11th. You’ll note that some of the items have been discounted up to 50%! Those are the items that will sell out quickly. Also, the 2015-2017 In-Colors will be retiring, including the stamps, papers, and embellishments. Those items will sell out very fast as well.

It’s hard to believe that the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog will be here soon! One advantage of being a demonstrator is that we get to see the new catalog and pre-order early. I have to admit that the new Annual Catalog is one of my favorites in years!!! You’re going to LOVE it!!! If you’d like to take advantage of this great perk, contact me to learn more.
