Color Fusers Blog Hop for December 2018

By | December 3, 2018

Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for December 2018!  This month, we have a beautiful color combination that’s perfect for the holidays, including Cherry Cobbler, Shaded Spruce, Mint Macaron, and Gold.  Don’t you just love metallic colors on holiday cards?  They are so elegant and festive!

Whether you just started the blog hop or got here from Paola Phillips’ blog, be sure to continue on for lots of great inspiration.  See the navigation buttons at the bottom of this post.

My card features a preview of a new Sale-A-Bration stamp set for 2019!  It’s called Lovely Lattice.  It’s a new cling stamp set (more info on this AMAZING new type of stamps below) that you can earn for free from January 3 to March 31, 2019 when you make a qualifying purchase of $50 or more!  I was lucky enough to obtain this stamp set during the demonstrator pre-order at convention.

Here’s a photo of the stamp set.  While it’s not intended to be a holiday stamp set, I thought I’d turn it into one by using these lovely holiday colors.

I stamped the main image and small flower multiple times so I could build layers and make some of the flowers look like they are popping right out of the card!  I started by stamping with Stazon Jet Black ink on Shimmery White Cardstock.  Then, I watercolored the images with ink pooled in the lids of my ink pads using an Aqua Painter.

To add gold highlights to the center of the flowers, I dipped my Aqua Painter in some Vegas Gold Shimmer Paint.

I did a LOT of fussy cutting on this card.  I cut out the main lattice image, and then for certain flowers, I cut out either sections or the entire flower.  Before adhering the layers with dimensionals, I curled the petals with a bone folder.

To turn my card into a holiday card, I added a greeting from the Merry Christmas to All stamp set with a coordinating Merry Christmas Thinlits die.

Since the main image was so busy, I decided to create a very subtle background using the Tufted Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folder.  I though it went well with the lattice imagery of the stamp.

Finally, I searched my stash of ribbons for coordinating trim.  Nature’s Twine has some pretty Mint Macaron twine that I unraveled to make thinner and more pliable, and the Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack has some super pretty Shaded Spruce ribbon!  A few gold metallic pearls, and I was finished!

New Cling Stamps!

Cling stamps were first introduced in Japan beginning with their 2018-2019 annual catalog.  The new stamp line has been a smashing success.  As a result, Stampin’ Up! is excited to offer cling stamps in all other markets beginning with the 2019 occasions catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochure.  During the transition, be sure to view product details carefully both in publications (each stamp type is identified with an icon) and when placing orders to note the stamp medium.
  • Beginning with the 2019 occasions catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochure, all new stamp sets will be available either in cling (for red rubber stamps) or photopolymer.
  • Stamps in the 2018-2019 annual catalog will continue to be available in clear-mount, wood-mount, or photopolymer.
  • Red rubber stamp sets (clear-mount or wood-mount) in the annual catalog that will be carrying over will transition to cling with the 2019-2020 annual catalog.  Watch for more information about carryover stamp sets in April 2019 with the regularly scheduled communication about catalog transitions, the carryover list, and the retiring products list.
  • In 2019-2020 annual catalog, clear-mount and wood-mount stamps* will no longer be available.  The only exception is background stamps in North America only, which will still be available in wood-mount.

I’ve  had the opportunity to purchase some of the new cling stamp sets, and I absolutely LOVE them!!!  They stick securely to the acrylic blocks and don’t leave any residue on the block.  When you purchase your first set, PLEASE read the instructions for assembling your stamps.  There are two really key issues I’d like to point out:

  • Once you place the label on the stamp, it is adhered permanently.  Attempting to remove or adjust the label will damage the stamp’s foam.
  • To remove the stamp from the block, grasp securely near the image label and remove slowly. (Cling stamps stick so well that if they are not carefully removed from the block, the foam can tear.)  To clean the labels, simply rinse under running water. Avoid alcohol-based cleaners.
Stay tuned for new Color Fusers Blog Hops on the first Monday of each month!
Have a wonderful and creative day.
