Do you use buttons on your cards? Stampin’ Up! has some adorable buttons in the Holiday Catalog. My upline, Kimberley, recently challenged us to make a card with buttons. I had purchased the Home For Christmas Designer Buttons a while ago, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to break them open and play!
This card features two of the three darling buttons in the Home For Christmas pack. I love the striped one, and I also love the little star, and I love the red poinsettia flower (not shown.) OK, I guess I love them all!!!
I paired those fun buttons with some Season of Cheer Designer Series Paper and stamps from Winter Wishes. Don’t you love the watercolored style of that paper and those little skates? The Winter Wishes stamp set is one of my favorites, and I plan to make several more cards with it. Being a cross-country skier, I especially love the ski stamp!
But back to this card, I stamped the skates with Basic Gray Archival ink on Shimmery White Paper so I could watercolor them with Smoky Slate and Soft Sky ink.
I used A LOT of embellishments on this card, including a Snowflake Element. I adore those wooden snowflakes! They add a great dimension and rustic feel to holiday cards.
I also folded some White 3/8″ Glitter Ribbon under the striped button to make a unique bow, and then I tied the button with Silver Cording Trim, and the star button with Linen Thread. While this card ended up being an eclectic mash up of embellishments, I really like the way it turned out!
Be sure to check out all the great embellishments in the Holiday Catalog. They can change your cards from “Eh” to “Wow!”
