Shaker Balloon

By | August 9, 2016

One of my co-workers is a new grandpa.  He was so excited to tell me the news and show me pictures of his sweet granddaughter.

I tried to think of something different for his card … not too girly.  I ended up using some pink, (I mean it IS a girl), but I also tried to tone it down with bears and a Tip Top Taupe background.

My favorite part of this card is the little shaker balloon.  I used the Balloon Bouquet Punch to first punch out a smaller balloon and then punch a larger balloon around it, thereby creating a balloon outline for my shaker.  I adhered a larger balloon window sheet behind the outline, and then bent a Foam Adhesive Strip around the edges.  After sandwiching some sequins from the June Paper Pumpkin kit inside, I sponged the edges with Blushing Bride ink and even used a Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write Marker to color the edges of the Foam Adhesive Strip so it would blend in.

I used three different stamp sets for this card.  The main focus is the cute bears from the Bear Hugs stamp set, and then I personalize the sentiment with the Thoughtful Banners and Labeler Alphabet stamp sets.

I stamped the two bears with Tip Top Taupe ink and then watercolored them with Tip Top Taupe, Sahara Sand, and Blushing Bride ink.

The designer papers came from the Playful Palette Designer Series Paper Stack.  That paper stack has TONS of cute papers.

The new Foam Adhesive Strips make it so easy to create shaker cards in any shape.  You’ve got to try them!
